Practicum The Finance Practicum is your chance to compete for a position on a team that solves a problem for a corporate partner. You’ll work on your project at corporate headquarters in January, before the start of the spring semester. The practicum culminates in a final presentation to the executive team at your sponsoring corporation.

Bloomberg Certification Bloomberg systems are available in the Business Library and in the Resource Center. To give our students an advantage, we provide them with the opportunity to become “Bloomberg Certified” by offering a Bloomberg certification program prior to graduation.

CFA The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification program is globally recognized in the financial asset management field. If you are considering a career in asset management, you will want to enroll in a CFA review course during the spring semester.

Business Case Competition The Department of Finance sponsors a business case competition for MS Finance students. The competition provides a challenging opportunity for students to analyze in-depth a finance problem by researching best practices in business, applying theories to real-life problems and presenting their case before a panel of judges.

Illinois Business Consulting An integral part of the College of Business, Illinois Business Consulting (IBC) conducts 40-50 business consulting projects each year for established organizations of varying sizes (Fortune 500 to small businesses, both for-profit and not-for-profit) and allows students to build problem solving, project management and client management skills that can be leveraged in their career of choice.
