The James A. Gentry Business Case Competition
The Business Case Competition is named for Professor James A. Gentry, the IBE Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Finance. Professor Gentry teaches courses in corporate finance, executive development programs in general management, credit analysis and bond analysis. He has been on faculty at the University of Illinois since 1966.
The business case used in the competition is multi-disciplinary in nature and is expected to require a total of 20 hours of preparation. Research case analysis will take approximately 10 – 15 hours. Oral presentation preparation and practice will take an additional 5 hours. Students participate in teams and cash awards are provided to first and second place. The competition is held during the spring term.
