Students experience subsistence marketplaces in India

Every winter, students from the University of Illinois travel to India for an immersion experience with the Subsistence Marketplaces Initiative. Some of these students are participating in the John Hedeman International Immersion Experience through the Sustainable Product and Market Development for Subsistence Marketplaces course. Others take a very similar trip in January through the Professional MBA program (PMBA) and Entrepreneurs Without Borders (EWOB).

This winter, the two groups were forced to change their plans at the last minute and reroute their itinerary from Chennai to Bangalore, due to the devastating floods that had ravaged Chennai in December. Both groups of students proved to be remarkably resilient and had successful experiences.
